Smarties and Speedsters

I realize I haven’t posted in awhile, and I apologize for that, but he end of the year is here and I’m getting ready for finals and some other pre-end of year tests.  So, I just have NOT had time to get any posts in for the past few weeks.  Speaking of tests and finals and smartness, the fab four absolutely CLEANED UP at the ninth grade awards ceremony a few weeks ago.  Alll four of the fab four took home at least one award,  for which I congratulate them.  Unfortunately, I am in the .1% of the school who are too stupid to earn an award (actually, only about 30% DID get one), which is fine for me, because I have always considered myself the slow and stupid one on the team.

Speaking of my slowness (wow, I am ON A ROLL with segways today), we had the League Championship Meet last Saturday.  I ran in the Freshman/Sophomore two mile with one of the fab four.  Two of the other fab four were in the mile, and the fourth was, as usual, in the 800.  I’ll start with him.  He had a disappointing performance (he told me he was horrible, but I disagree).  He ran a 2:13 which was good for second place.  He came in as the overwhelming favorite to win, but the winner from BC High came out with a GREAT performance at 2:08, so he never had a chance.  Nonetheless, though, it was a good performance on his part.

As for those milers.  Wow.  They had a GREAT day.  Mr. I Still Think I am Playing Hockey Next Winter ran well with a time of 4:47, but the newly dubbed Mr. Clutch came out with a 4:46, which was good for second place.  The winner was from Xaverian, and he ran a 4:46.xx to just edge out Mr. Clutch.  Why is he Mr. Clutch, you ask?  Well, he always comes out to play in the big meets.  Both of those times are Pr’s for them, so congrats to them for that, as well.

And now for Mr. Two Mile (he still does not have an official nickname).  He won the Frosh/Soph two mile with a nice time of 10:36, beating some kid from BC High, who ran a 10:37.  In third was one of our Sophomores, and then I was sitting in fourth.  I ran a 10:55, which is a PR by three seconds.  This was a nice race, and Mr. Two Mile did a nice job of holding off the kid from BC High, who just couldn’t quite catch him.  I was holding off this kid from Malden Catholic the whole time, and I will always know his last name is Duff, because it seemed like the whole damn place was yelling “c’mon Duff, lets go Duff”.  So, naturally, I learned his name fairly easily.

And there you go, a quick update on what was.  The Division I State Meet is being held as I write, so I will post the results from the older guys one of these days.  By the way, we won the League Championship in Frosh/Soph, and came in second in varsity.  So, our best guys are in Lincoln-Sudbury right now, and I am thinking about going to the school dance tonight.  We’ll see how it goes.

Talk at ‘ya later
